How Our Noise Diagnostic Process Works
Finding the source of a noise starts with understanding when and how it happens. We may ask:
- Does it happen while braking, accelerating or turning?
- Does it change with vehicle speed?
- Does it happen over bumps?
- Is it worse when the vehicle is cold or hot?
- Where does the noise seem to come from?
When appropriate, we'll road test the vehicle to reproduce the concern - we might even ask you to take a ride with us to point it out!
Once we hear the noise you’re hearing, we will inspect and test the systems that could be responsible. Depending on the symptoms, that might include the brakes, steering and suspension, wheel bearings, engine, drivetrain, exhaust or other components.
Once we identify the cause, we'll explain what we found, why it's happening and what we recommend doing about it.
